GYMNASTICS

Saint Ann's Gymnastics Program provides a safe, encouraging environment in which to explore the joy of movement and the thrill of gymnastics. Each day is packed with activities that improve balance, strength, agility, flexibility, concentration, and self-confidence.

Mondays through Thursdays the students receive three hours of gymnastics training before going to the park for a relaxing lunch and games. Our afternoon concludes with swimming at the St. Francis College pool. On Fridays, we join the entire Saint Ann's Summer Program for trips or special events.

Shin guards are required for all soccer players and will be provided by the school; soccer cleats are recommended but not required. A change of clothes for use after practice is also recommended! All students will swim in the afternoon and join the other campers for the Friday trip program.

BASEBALL

Baseball (July 9- July 20)

The Baseball Program starts the second session and is open to children entering 2nd. through 6th. grade and offers an enjoyable way for campers to practice and improve their skills.

Catch, Throw, Pitch, Swing...Hit!

Campers practice fielding and throwing skills, take batting practice, and learn game strategies. In addition, there will be daily games. Instruction is always tailored to camper's age and ability. For safety reasons, we use baseballs that are softer than regulation baseballs.

Daily Routine

Campers gather in the morning at Saint Ann's and take a private bus to the baseball fields at nearby Red Hook. We spend two hours at the fields and return by noon for lunch. On rainy days we use one of the gym spaces at school.

BASKETBALL

Our campers will have the chance to play and learn more about this popular and exciting game. The program is open to students entering the second through sixth grades.

Dribble, Pass, Shoot, SCORE!

Fundamental drills will cover all aspects of the sport, including partner and team cooperation as well as individual technical skills. All levels, beginner to experienced, are welcome, and hoops set at different heights will give even the youngest players the chance to dunk.

Daily Routine

Students will meet in the morning at Saint Ann's School, where they will be divided into groups according to the day's activity. Both the big gym on the 12th floor and the gym space in the Undercroft will be used for the three-hour activity period, which will include plenty of breaks for water and snacks. Lunch at 12:00PM will followed by swimming, and the basketball players will join the rest of the campers on Fridays for trips.

ARTS

Our arts program offers interested campers the chance for more concentrated involvement in the arts.

Choice of Activities

We offer Arts & Crafts, Drama, and Computers. Campers choose up to two activities on which to concentrate for at least one week of the session. This focus allows the students time to immerse themselves in their projects, whether in visual arts, stage performance, computing skills, or any combination of these. All activities will be calibrated to challenge skill levels from beginner to advanced.

Daily Routine

Two counselors for each activity will meet campers in the main building and take them to the appropriate space. Each day's two activity periods will be separated by a 45 minute break for snacks, story reading, singing or free time. Lunch is at 12 PM, followed by free time in the park and swimming. All campers will take part in the Friday trip program.

SCIENCE

SCIENCE PROGRAM

Open to students entering grades five through seven, the Science Program gives campers the opportunity to learn more about the natural world.  The program takes place during the first two weeks of the first session and will offer different topics each week.

This program is for students who love science and want ample time to pursue projects and topics that build further on our school year science curriculum.  We combine academic research, field work, and laboratory activities with relevant arts and crafts projects.

Science camp is two weeks long and students may sign up for either or both weeks.  Topics may include seed germination, chemistry of cooking, geology, and marine mammals.  Please note that due to planning needs registration for Science Camp is May 1st.  If registration is inadequate by that date part or the entire program may be cancelled.

Daily Routine:

Mornings are devoted to laboratory activities and small-group research projects.  Students join the other campers for lunch and playtime in the park from 12-1 PM, then return to the science classroom for subject-related games, puzzles, art projects, and films.

Staff

Sarah Richards and Liz Velikonja will jointly teach the Science Program
