Poem of the Day: 2 Jun 2005

The City

Fumes coming up from
The buildings
I ride the smoggy smelly
Train every day
One small cubicle entrenches me
As I work. I smell nuts
From the nut vendor outside—
What a horrid smell —Finally
The day is done.
I take my bag and
Go home.

Joey wanted to be a King when he grew up

Joey wanted to be a King when he grew up
Or a Power Ranger
His parents said, “No, you can’t be those”
He argued and argued
“Maybe you should be a lawyer,” they said.
“No,” said Joey, “Lawyers are stupid.”
“Well, you can decide when you’re older.”
“O.K.” he said.
He ended up being a lawyer.

Moment

I didn’t watch
I didn’t care
I didn’t know

What they tell me I missed
    leaping
        galloping
             beautiful

They say I should forget it
     but it was leaping
    joyous
    beautiful

I know I will search for it
because it was leaping
                dancing
         beautiful

So now I watch
So now I care
So now I know
And I will find it.
