Poem of the Day: 4 Jun 2005

a smile

a smile
corners of the mouth stretch up
teeth showing
eyes laughing
like sunlight
like skies opening up
after dark, gray clouds
to reveal...
sunshine.

Liya R. (Middle School, 2004-5) (p#258)

A stream of cardinals

A stream of cardinals
Red as cardinals
Not as numerous perhaps as the Cardinal Numbers
All added up
But numerous nonetheless
Chittering in their bird voices
Leaving the nest with
Their beloved patriarch who
After all, is but another
Bird.

Eli M. (Middle School, 2004-5) (p#259)

bitter as cold can be

bitter as cold can be
and sweet as spring
beautiful as all seasons put together

Aaron M. (Middle School, 2004-5) (p#260)
