Poem of the Day: 9 Jun 2005

A baby is born, a new beginning

A baby is born, a new beginning
A child is crazy, starting off good
A middle schooler learning, athletics come
A teenager developing, cruising and cursing.
In college, sadly they leave
Into the real world, jobs and diligence
Into an old man, no flesh only bone
Fading away every second, fading, fading, fading
Happiness.

Sean W. (Middle School, 2004-5) (p#278)

the clock is

the clock is
ticking
I am
writing
my desk is
moving
cars are
moving
cars are
moving
the air is going in my
mouth
I am cracking my
fingers
people are in
class
my mom is at work.

Ari E. (Middle School, 2004-5) (p#279)

Seasons

Petals fall like raindrops
upon the leaf covered floor
then snow covers the tree tops
while the snowflakes soar.
New flowers peep their heads out
and the snow melts away.
Children leap for joy and shout
“It’s vacation time,” I say.

Casey M. (Middle School, 2004-5) (p#280)
