Poem of the Day: 16 Jun 2005

The waves

The waves
crash onto the beach
as I wriggle my
toes in the sand.

Pelicans scoop
fish from their homes,

and the salty air
dances around my head.

Emma O. (Middle School, 2004-5) (p#306)

The grasshopper’s legs

The grasshopper’s legs
Are at such acute angles,
It’s a wonder to me
How they never get tangles.

Hannah S. (Middle School, 2004-5) (p#307)

The boy had lost his friend

The boy had lost his friend
His lips began to tremble
Tears like rivers trickled
From his disappointed eyes,
His heart was torn in two.

Jack W. (Middle School, 2004-5) (p#308)
