Poem of the Day: 1 Apr 2008

As I sat down to write,

As I sat down to write,
The room was silent except
For the sound of construction outside
But then it stopped.
    I continued to write.

Adam O. (Middle School, 2007-8) (p#4652)

Sleep

Whisper,
shh,
be quiet,
you need this time for letting your body and mind relax.

Whisper,
shh,
don’t move
let yourself take time in letting go of life for this one second.

Let yourself sleep.

Maia H. (Middle School, 2007-8) (p#4653)

she was

she was
just a girl, a normal girl
she remembered,
taken,
pulled away from
life
taken
by surprise,
tears flowed
as she screamed,
but he
was
too heavy
she was pinned
down by the
weight of her
fear
he let himself
into her
conscience,
her mind
spinning
heart beating faster and faster
no one hears
her strained
voice,
words choked with
falling tears
pain pulsed
through her body
days of torture
before she,
a broken soul, was returned
to life,
but the
normality
was gone
she held
the weight
of her fear
forever.
