Poem of the Day: 11 Sep 2008

Gone

All that was left
was a faint smell
of burning wood
and smoke.
A vast, empty, debris-filled
plain
lies ahead,
black as the
night’s
sky,
as soot-filled
as a neglected
fireplace.
Your house,
My house,
Gone.

Nicholas S. (Middle School, 2007-8) (p#5299)
