Poem of the Day: 1 May 2010

hopscotch

hopping
back, forth
through
this detailed
board
wonderful entertainment.
Joy.

Oscar P. (Middle School, 2009-10) (p#7681)

Harmony

Harmony in a moment
A trumpet blows
A teacher talks
The peeling blue of a door
Shines out like new
A classroom listens
Another writes
And the trumpet’s song goes on
And my world
In perfect harmony.

Suzanne B. (Middle School, 2009-10) (p#7682)

Spilt Milk

The smooth
creamy
liquid
spreading slowly
across the table
its solid white
contrasts
with the wood’s
brown hue
some of it reaches the table’s
edge
and softly
drip drip drips
onto the carpeted floor
a single tear
forms in his eye
but then he remembers
that old saying

Zack K. (Middle School, 2009-10) (p#7683)
