Problem of the Week
for Friday, January 21

In this square dartboard, the purple shaded square is the bullseye.
If a dart hits the boaard at random, what is the probability that it hits the bullseye?

Correct answers from Elissa, Eli, Roy, Jamie and Nicholas!
Here's Nicholas' solution:

The probability that the dart you throw at random will hit the bullseye is 25% or 1/4.
The proof is this: With the red lines I have drawn, the dart board is divided into 16 identical triangles. 4 of these are the bullseye. 4/16 = 1/4 or 25%.
