Problem of the Week
for Friday, September 26

A quarter is rolled completely around another quarter
until it returns to its original position.

How many full turns does George Washington's head make?

Please explain.

Claudia's Solution:

The two distances drawn are equal, so when the quarter rolls above the other it will be turned half way and rolled one fourth of the way to where it started. So...multiply the half turn by four and you get TWO SPINS!
