Problem of the Week
for Friday, January 16
Your lawn is a square and measures ten meters on each side. Sprinklers have a range of five meters. What is the mimimum number of sprinklers you need to water your lawn, and where should they be placed? (Don't forget to explain why your number is the smallest possible!)
Perhaps the animation below will help you find a solution.
Place sprinklers where you think they'll reach all the lawn.
Rotate the red valve to turn the water on or off.
(you can only move the sprinklers when the water is off)
