Problem of the Week Archives
The Problem of the Week presents an opportunity for 2nd to 8th graders to apply their creativity to
mathematical problem solving. It is NOT a required assignment. It is available to those students who
find the question interesting and who are looking to stretch their imagination. If parents are asked to
help, and have the time, inclination, and desire, they are welcome to contribute to the problem solving
process. If students arrive at a solution as a result of collaboration, they are encouraged to submit the
work, as long as the results are expressed in their own words, using their own pictures.
The Math Department hopes that The Problem of the Week
will continue to be a fun and exciting experience for all participants.
