Problem of the Week
for Friday, September 24

A deck of cards sits on the edge of a table.
The top card can be slid halfway ( that is, half of a card length ) before it falls.
Now that it is balanced perfectly, how far can you slide the second card?

Ben's Solution:

It is a quarter of the card because if you can slide one out half a full card then you can slide out half of the card that you already slid out.

1/2 + 1/4 + 1/4 = 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/2

(congratulations to Alessandra, Ramona, Jonathan, Nico, Paulus, Catherine and India for also solving this Problem of the Week!)
