The Madwoman of Chaillot

by Jean Giraudoux

adapted by Maurice Villency

Directed by Laura Barnett

Performance dates in the Theater are:
March 2, 3, 4, 5 at 7:00pm

Written in 1943 and one of the first plays to be produced in post-occupied France, The Madwoman of Chaillot is a poetic, political fable set in the twilight zone of the utterly believable and the not-quite true. An avaricious prospector plans to destroy Paris in order to unearth oil. The plans come to the attention of the Madwoman of Chaillot who, though ostensibly not in her right mind, is soon shown to be the very essence of worldly goodness and uncommon sense. At a tea party attended by other 'madwomen' of Paris, she organizes the exodus of the wicked. Their exodus is followed by another, more beautiful miracle: joy, justice, and love return to the world again.
Reservation date: Thursday, February 18

Please begin making reservations on or after 2/18/10 . The procedure for making reservations is the same as in previous years.
